Fasting, Day 18 (Thursday)

Home > Pastor's Blog > Fasting, Day 18 (Thursday)

Sorry about not posting anything yesterday. I was just slightly overwhelmed. So many things to order for our media ministry, coordinating the installation of new phone service, ordering for the new women’s drama team, talking to people that call the office, working with some families that are having issues and don’t forget trying to study!

I discovered a new way the enemy tries to push us into letting down in our commitments. One word: BUSY! We can get so busy that we lose track of time and even lose track of the most important things. Everything I did yesterday was important. Moving forward in our media ministry is important. Saving money on phone service is important. Getting a new ministry endeavor going is important. Helping people with their problems is important. But nothing is more important than honoring the commitments and covenants we make with the Lord. As I told you when teaching on fasting, just not eating is not enough. That’s called dieting. Fasting must be coupled with prayer, seeking God and the study of His Word. I got so busy yesterday that I worked right through lunch time, yet I spent no time with the Lord. I was busy talking to everyone else. I finally had to just lay everything aside and say, “Here I am Lord!” What a refreshing and what a lesson I learned. My time with Him prepares me to deal with all the other things I need to do. He gives the strength to multi-task, the wisdom to know what to say to help those in need and the knowledge to deal with issues to help the church.

Oh, Lord, help me to never get so busy that I miss my times with you. Wait a minute! That’s not the Lord’s job….. that’s mine! Curtis, make sure you never get too busy to miss your times with God. I dare you to put your name in the place of mine and say it out loud to yourself.
