Fasting, Day 13 (Saturday)

Home > Pastor's Blog > Fasting, Day 13 (Saturday)

Where in the world has today gone? Sorry for being late, but I’ve heard late is better than never.
Yesterday, I learned some things. My daughter called about 7:50 AM and said she had a flat tire. Oh, well, stuff happens. Did I mention that it was raining and it was cold? When I finally found her car in the school parking lot, I began to search for all the necessary things. Spare tire, jack, lug wrench, etc. I laid out a tarp so that I wouldn’t have to lie on the cold, wet ground. I almost never figured out where to put the jack and then I took forever figuring out how to use that jack. Then when I got everything working, the spare tire was slack. I packed everything up, came all the way back to Woodruff, filled up the air tank, drove all the way back to Spartanburg to fill up the spare. Did I mention that I was soaking wet and cold?

So, what did I learn? Normally, I would have been aggravated, agitated, and….. angry. Not at the flat tire, but all the things that didn’t go right. Yesterday was different. My outlook is different. My attitude is different. Reckon where that came from? FASTING. The time I’m spending away from food and with the Lord, is drawing me closer to Him and making me more like Him. I surprised myself!!! Hey, if I can surprise myself, don’t you think I might just surprise others with my change of attitude and actions? People can see Jesus in us!!!!!

So hang in there. We might be a little irritable while we’re fasting because we’re hungry. But God sure likes what we’re becoming!!!
